We make an awful lot of grilled cheese sandwiches around here, especially since the 3 year old boy living in our home requests one at almost every meal for oh, almost a year. Needless to say, I've done some experimenting with them. One of our favorite versions is
sharp cheddar, cream cheese, orange marmalade and fresh thyme on brioche. 
I love how buttery and flaky the brioche is (and like I've said before, Rene's Bakery makes the best!)
I'll spare you the steps on how to make a grilled cheese. I'll just say this one is rather perfect: equal parts crispy, creamy, savory and sweet.

And it doesn't even need tomato soup.
