It’s just been a busy week. Ted and I have been dashing past each other for the past few days. So last night we decided to hang out and have a beer. It was a gorgeous evening, and we hopped on our bikes and went to the Upland Tasting Room at 49th and College. What a great place. It always feels like you’re hanging out at your college friend’s apartment when you go. It’s little (although recently expanded, it’s still pretty cozy) and last night it was filled with SoBro folks laughing, playing cards, drinking beer (obviously) and even playing the guitar. We ordered an Upland Wheat (me) and a beer flight (Ted) that contained three different IPA’s (Dragonfly, Double Dragonfly and Flat 12 Half Cycle, I think).

Plus, it was our lucky day because the Scratch food truck was parked right outside (which I believe they do every Thursday night there from 6-9pm). Judging from the line, we decided the food must be good. It was indeed. I’m copying what we ordered from their menu online:
Spicy Chicken Cone- Hand breaded, spicy chicken tenders, mango-jalapeno coleslaw and ancho chile aioli served in a flour tortilla cone $7 + tax
Southwest Rice & Corn Salad with Lemon Dressing- Roasted corn, poblano peppers, yellow bell peppers, yellow zucchini, avocado, green onion & cilantro with a lemon dressing. 40z $2 +tax/ 8oz $4 + tax

Guess what else they had? Basil lemonade, which was good, and watermelon-jalepeno lemonade, which was insanely good! I was skeptical to try the latter, but curiosity got the better of me and I’m glad it did. You could taste the lemonade, the watermelon and the jalepeno all separately and it just worked. Do not ask me how. It makes no sense on paper, only palate!

I saw a flier inside Upland that said West Coast Taco truck would be parked out front every Wednesday night, Scratch truck every Thursday night, and a new truck called Groovy Guys Gourmet Fries every Friday night. And you're free to take your food into Upland to eat. I can't tell you how happy I am to have this great food truck lineup within walking distance of my house!
Have you jumped on the food truck bandwagon?
