Bebop Pizza Kitchen

There was lots of rain this past week, and it made me feel blah about cooking or even going out. I wanted to order pizza but not just the same speed-dial place we always do...something different. I sit at the stoplight by Bebop Pizza Kitchen (around the corner from Jazz Kitchen at 54th and College) a lot, and think to myself, "Hmm. We should get that." So, we got that.

They have no website to speak of, and no menu online. I think they have a paper menu that you can pick up from their kitchen, but I just asked about their pizzas over the phone. They have 3 sizes of pizzas and we got the largest one. We split it half and half: one side was meaty, with bacon and spicy chorizo, and the other side was their "5 cheese" which included a blend of italian cheeses, goat cheese, and I think I tasted gouda too. They deliver in the SoBro area for a $1.50 delivery fee, which I gladly forked over to stay out of the downpour.

It came in a cute box that didn't scream "chain pizza!" and wasn't covered in coupons, which was nice. I also ordered a can of Diet Coke (yep, they sell cans) and they brought me a 2 liter as an apology since one of the pizza slices got "messed up" sliding into the box. I didn't even see the messed up area he was showing me since it was so minor, and I thought it was pretty cool of them to notice and apologize. Anyway...

The pizza was fantastic: thin-but-not-paper-thin crispy crust, flavorful sauce (just the right amount), and really high-quality toppings. I love goat cheese and that's not a topping you see at every pizza place, so I was happy:) The slices were heavy, all loaded up with ingredients and cheese, and we couldn't finish it between all 4 of us (well, 2 of us are only half-size).

They have chocolate covered strawberries ($1.50 for 2 of them) which was a nice touch. You need something sweet after pizza, but not something really heavy, so these were a big hit.

I think we got away with everything for under $25, so while its not the cheapest pizza in town, its not overpriced by any means and you definitely get your money's worth. Check them out next time you decide to call for pizza. (253-1340)

  1. I think it's a great pizza Perth place. It's not every day you see a pizza joint offering chocolate-covered strawberries.
