French Market

Over the weekend, we went to the French Market Festival at St. Joan of Arc. We are lucky we live so close; we put the kids in the wagon and walked down down the street, and there it was. There were TONS of people there. Live bands, tables everywhere with people eating and enjoying the music, kids dancing, fun lights, and all kinds of (you guessed it) French stuff: knick-knacks, wine, art and FOOD. Oh, the food....

In exchange for dollars, you got tickets, and in exchange for tickets, you got heaping mounds of French food. We started with Oysters Rockafeller. Would you like bechamel sauce on those? Yes. Yes I would.

Next was a tarte flambee gratinee, which was "French Pizza" covered in white sauce, bacon, green onions and swiss cheese.

And finally, beignets. There was a commotion surrounding the beignet station, and I totally understand. Beignets deserve commotion.

After a jaunt on the playground (where my daughter shoved about 4 fistfuls of mulch into her mouth), we headed home in our wagon. I had no idea how awesome the French Festival is! I'm already looking forward to next year. If you didn't make it out, go next time!
